Boston Trinity Academy is marked by
Boston Trinity Academy motivates its students to achieve their best by setting high expectations and providing rich opportunities for learning. The academic curriculum begins in grade 6 when students hone skills in language and mathematics in preparation for the demands of a college preparatory high school education. In the upper school each student must successfully complete a minimum of four Advanced Placement courses in order to be graduated. BTA students are meeting the challenge and succeeding. Four of the 16 members of the first BTA graduating class in 2006 were National Merit Scholars or Commended Scholars, and all were college bound. In the fall of 2006, the College Board named as AP Scholars 10 of the 18 BTA juniors and seniors who took AP exams earlier in the year.
The BTA faculty have graduated from some of the country’s most highly esteemed colleges and universities including Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, Swarthmore, Vanderbilt, University of Virginia, and Wellesley. Education is paramount in their own lives — more than 70 percent of our teachers have or are pursuing advanced degrees. In addition to their work in the classroom, they take a personal interest in their students by acting as advisors, coaches, and coordinators of clubs.
Boston Trinity Academy actively seeks a student body that reflects the rich and diverse communities of Boston. Boston Trinity Academy students are 37 percent white, 32 percent black, 10 percent Latino, and 21 percent Asian. While 51 percent of our students live in the city of Boston, many travel from a wide-range of greater Boston communities including Cambridge, Chelsea, Dedham, Newton, Revere, Somerville, and Wellesley. Our international students, 11 percent of our student body, hail from such countries as Denmark, China, Angola, Korea, and Mongolia. BTA students are diverse economically as well. Currently, 66 percent of our students receive need-based scholarships.
Boston Trinity Academy is designed to cultivate the intellectual, physical, and spiritual development of young people. As a school rooted in Christian faith, we intend for our students to learn to love God and others while seeking wisdom as well as knowledge. Our distinct Christian faith is evident not only in chapel services and Biblical studies classes but also in the very culture of our school that stresses that our calling in life is to serve God and others. While BTA students come from myriad backgrounds and religious traditions, the school is marked with a distinctive Christian faith, and all faculty and members of the board of trustees ascribe to a statement of faith.
